Lenovo Thinkpad T440p M.2 Slot

Hi everyone!

Re: Does the T430s use M.2 HDD or 2.5' 7mm drives? #5 Post by ZaZ » Thu Apr 20, 2017 4:35 pm The T420 was the first to accept a smaller mini SSD in the form of a mSATA, but the T440 and later switched to M.2 SSDs. The Lenovo ThinkPad T440p can be configured in many different ways through Lenovo's web shop. Is integrated in the M.2 slot, and has a price in the online store of 42 Euros ($60).

I'm planning a few mods, (my son is a dev, but left the machine 'stock'), mainly the screen and touchpad. I also want to upgrade the drive to either a 128gb M.2 with a 1 TB drive for data in the main HDD slot, or 128 2.5 SSD and swap out the CD/DVD for a caddy to hold the 1 TB drive.

I've been looking at the specs and I can't find any information on the M.2 speeds for a SSD. Is it better to get a regular 2.5 SSD for this machine or will the M.2 provide faster throughput? Theoretically, the M.2 should be faster, but as I said, I can't find any details.
